Vikings & Beekeepers

So I’ve been itching to talk movies for some time now and I think I’m ready to bring those kinds of discussions to the fray at Vikings & Beekeepers (hey, the name has nothing to do with music, so why shouldn’t I throw another medium into the mix?). I may start doing some formatted essays (I’m thinking about doing a focus on Woody Allen’s post-1990 films), but for the meantime I’ll just start posting mini-reviews of old and new movies that I’ve recently enjoyed. Perhaps I’ll also do some longer form reviews of films I’ve been able to watch at least a couple of times. All I know is that I’m interested in getting my “film critic” on and there’s no better way to start than to simply start. Who knows – the sky’s the limit.

Also, please check out some new additions to the blogroll, which now includes some great outlets for film criticism like Filmspotting, The End Of Cinema, Kino Obscura and, of course, Roger Ebert.

Woof, another delayed Quarterly Report. So many reasons, but one of them is the fact that I haven’t really had a strong handle on the last three months of music. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve listened to a lot of new music, but I really can’t seem to decide how they should be ranked (not that the ranking really matters). You could mix up my top 10 in any order and I wouldn’t blink. My 10 could easily be my No. 1 and vice versa. It’s been an indecisive time. Oh well, I’ve quite enjoyed a lot, I just haven’t really gone in depth with these albums yet.

Oh, and one more thing. I’ve been kicking it around in my mind to expand the content of this site beyond music. At least to some movie talk. Is this a good idea? Is it too silly? What say you?
